Andrew Short Marine - Shockwave 5
Built in Sydney in 2000, this high tech carbon fibre maxi yacht was raced in Australia briefly by Neville Crichton before being sold to German yachtsman Hasso Plattner who then raced her internationally as Morning Glory.

Andrew Short bought the boat in the USA earlier this year and took line honours in the St David’s Lighthouse Division of the 2008 Newport – Bermuda Race. Short has a liking for fast boats and has taken line honours with yachts such as Amazon and Bobsled in the Sydney Mooloolabah and Sydney Gold Coast Races and now with ASM-Shockwave 5 in the recent 2008 Gosford – Lord Howe Island Race.

Black Jack
The Reichel Pugh 66 Black Jack was purchased by Brisbane businessman Peter Harburg in mid 2008.

Black Jack has recently competed in the Club Marine Brisbane to Keppel Tropical Yacht Race dominating all three divisions including setting a new race record.

Black Jack had a successful Audi Hamilton Island Race week taking out line honours in 5 of the 9 races.

Black Jack is currently based at Rivergate Marina and represents Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron.

Loki III
LOKI will be launched at Christmas this year, with the boat's first event being the Skandia Docklands Invitational.

LOKI is a custom designed Reichel Pugh 63 built at McConaghys in Sydney.

The previous LOKI had a successful campaign in European waters with the following results: 3rd IRC Skandia Cowes Race Week, 4th IRC &1st IRM in Rolex Fastnet Race, 2nd in IRC Maxi class to Morning Glory in Rolex Maxi Worlds in Sardinia. However whilst leading the 2007 Rolex Middle Sea race by over 1.5 hours on corrected time she was lost on the northern coast of Sicily with rudder damage.

After climbing out of a life-raft and Sikorsky helicopter in the middle of the night with nothing but a passport and wet weather gear, Stephen immediately told the crew he would build a new yacht straight away when he returned home.

That was a cause for both celebration and yet solemn reflection on how dangerous yacht racing can be.

Now, with all that behind them, the crew will consist of: Stephen Ainsworth - Owner 13 Sydney Hobarts, Cameron Miles - Sailing Master/Helmsman - 1999 Etchells World Champion, 2 time Sydney 38 National Champion

The crew will be bolstered in the engine room and grinding department by Olympian Anthony Nossiter whilst on the bow will be Wild Oats bowman Doug Pratt backed up by one design specialist Rus Ely as mid bow.

Trim shall be supervised by the very experienced Allistair Pratt from North Sails Sydney

Limit
West Australian yachtsman Alan Brierty commissioned Reichel/Pugh to design his latest Limit and Mal Hart to build this state-of-the-art grand prix racer.

Brierty has achieved considerable success with his yachts on the East Coast, including with the Corby 49 Flirt which he renamed Limit.

Limit competed in the 2007-2008 CYCA Blue Water Championship finishing a creditable 3rd and winning the CYCA Tasman Trophy. Limit also won the Cabbage Tree Island Race collecting the much revered Halverson Brothers’ Trophy. Limit also won Division 2 in the 2007 Rolex Trophy Series and placed 2nd overall to Patrice in the Sailing South Regatta. The highlight of Limit’s recent successes is winning the 2008 Port Stephens NSW IRC Championships.

Living Doll
Living doll is a Farr 55 developed by Farr Yachting designs and built at Cookson Boats.

The yacht has been developed through the information gathered from our previous boat. The rigging has been developed with the help of New Zealand Rigging Richard Bearda.

From our delivery trip across the Tasman 1800 miles where we encountered a couple of pretty mean LOW’s our boat arrived in Melbourne in perfect condition from there we have experienced a couple of small teething problems which has delayed our racing program.

We now feel confident to lead out with the Skandia Docklands Invitational and Skandia Geelong Week.

Georgia
Georgia is a New Zealand built development of the Farr 52 and is a carbon fibre, state-of-the-art design with a comfortable internal fit-out.

Unfortunately Georgia is now out of the Invitational after the yacht sunk during the Rolex Sydney Hobart. Graeme, John and crew are all okay and we are very sad to see the boat lost.

Goldfinger
Peter Blake won the 2003 Melbourne Hobart Race and also placed 2nd in the 2003 Melbourne Osaka Race with Kontrol before buying the original Ichi Ban and re-naming her Goldfinger. Since then Peter and co-owner Kate Mitchell have sailed the boat in several Sydney Hobarts and are regular competitors in Victorian offshore events, including taking line honours and first place on AMS and PHD in the 2006 Melbourne Stanley Race. Sandringham Yacht Club’s club champion in 2007-2008.
Quest
Quest is a state-of-the-art TP52 which has already won the 2008 Skandia Geelong Week and finished 2nd in the 2008 Audi Sydney Gold Coast Race.
Cougar II
Since arriving from the USA 16 months ago, Cougar II has enjoyed a relatively successful season with podium finishes in nearly every Victoria regatta and most recently taking the big one at Audi Hamilton Island Race Week, winning the hotly contested grand prix division. The boat also finished third in the Audi Australian IRC Championship.
Shortwave
Formerly a TP52 from UK – designed by Judel Vrolik – now has a bowsprit for IRC sailing.

Crewed by Andrew Short’s brothers Matthew & Ian Short & predominantly family members Christine, Kylie, Nikki, Caitlin, Sarah, Ryan, Peta, little Mat & Matt Smejlis (Kylie’s Fiance) with a solid balance of guys from Ian Short’s sail loft to compliment this team. Boat was 4th over the line in recent Sydney – Gold Coast race & looking to improve with experience as newly acquired boat from the UK.

Shogun
Rob Hanna, owner of SHOGUN has purchased a Cookson 50 (formerly known as Living Doll) which was successfully campaigned by the previous owner.

The new boat will be contested for the first time in the upcoming Range series.

The previous SHOGUN won a 1st in their division and a 2nd overall in the Audi Sydney Gold Coast Race in 2007.

Audi Centre Melbourne
Audi Centre Melbourne is a Corby 49 and was previously under the name of Flirt. She finished 4th in the IRC racing division in the Meridien Marinas Airlie Beach Race Week. Audi Centre Melbourne has begun to show her potential and challenge the TP52s and Cookson 50s for IRC overall results.
Optimus Prime
Optimus Prime (OP) is the 3rd ocean racer for owner Trevor Taylor and is a Marten 49 launched in March 2008. Trevor and his crew return to Docklands after competing in the inaugural event on previous yacht Ausmaid, a Farr 47. Through an injury interrupted start, OP has had great success scoring 5 wins from its first 9 races, including a domination of the 2008 Fremantle to Geraldton and return races, a Sydney Hobart qualifying event. OP scored line honours and 1st on IRC for both races, as well as smashing the return race record by just over 4 hours, a record that has stood for 38 years. Skandia Geelong Week is the final stop for OP’s east coast campaign which also includes the Rolex Trophy and Rolex Sydney Hobart.
Secret Mens Business 3
Launched earlier this year, the latest Secret Mens Business 3 had her maiden ocean race in the 2008 Audi Sydney Gold Coast Race and followed this by competing in the IRC Racing Division of the Audi Hamilton Island Race Week. In the Gold Coast Race, she finished 9th in fleet and 5th in IRC Division 1 and Boettcher is confident of an improved performance following modifications since Race Week.
